Video Of The Week: Reflecting on the 2015 Racing Season, with UCSB Crew

This week's video comes to us from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where the 2014-2015 Gaucho men's and women's crews had one of the most successful spring seasons in the history of the program.

The Gaucho men got things started with a bang at San Diego Crew Classic, taking the Cal Cup thanks to a great sprint that saw them edge two varsity programs in USD and Santa Clara, while the UCSB women took top honors in the DII/DIII event. While the middle of the season had its ups and downs for Santa Barbara, the Gauchos' performance at the 2015 ACRA Championships once again showed the growth and depth of the program, as well as the rising level of club rowing competition within the West Coast region, as local rivals UC Irvine also made a splash in Gainesville after showing good speed at WIRAs.

With the intercollegiate championships now in the rearview mirror stateside, it's time to reflect on what a season it was, especially for the many graduating seniors out there. As the video indicates, it's a bittersweet moment—all those little things, the even the most mundane, take on poignant meaning, as one chapter closes, and a new one awaits.

Much more on the 2015 season to come this week on RR, as we take a look back at the best performances this year, including recaps and reviews of the 2015 NCAA Rowing Championships, the IRA National Championship Regatta, and the European Championships, as well as a look ahead to summer racing at Henley Royal Regatta, the World University Games, Pan Ams, U23s, and the World Rowing Championships, to be held in Aiguebelette, France. Suffice it to say, there's plenty to look forward to in this Olympic qualification year!
