Video Of The Week: Yale Takes on Brown in Inaugural Albert Cup on the Seekonk

This week's video comes to us from the still-wintry climes of the Northeast, where the Bulldogs of Yale took on Brown men's heavyweight crew over the weekend. The video, shot from the launch, may not have sound, but the result was a resounding early season victory for the visiting team on the Seekonk River (though the race was tighter than the times would indicate—the Bulldogs were leading by a length until a crab by Brown slowed the crew down in the final 200m).

Last week, we released our preseason rankings for the IRA league, and so far things have generally played out accordingly, with our preseason no. 3 Yale besting no. 5 Brown in the varsity eight (however, Brown's depth showed once again in the 2V), and our no.2 women's lightweight squad Stanford winning their fifth-straight San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay. Much more to come from Southern California this week, including interviews with man-of-the-hour Dave O'Neill following the sterling debut of his new-look Texas Longhorns squad, Mike Teti on Cal's season opener, and UCSB's Desmond Stahl after the Gauchos' impressive sprint to win the Cal Cup.

Also coming up shortly—the next installment of our 'Best Rowing Drills' series, this time with Michigan head coach Gregg Hartsuff, and how to prep and warm up for your best 2k text with former Crash-B champ and Canadian Olympic medalist Conlin McCabe.
