Video Of The Week: The U23 GB Men's Eight Trains for Varese

This week's video features the GB U23 men's rowing team, led by Olympic champ and Cambridge head coach Steve Trapmore, training in preparation for Varese, where they finished sixth overall in a tightly packed final. Despite a slow start, the GB crew battled their way to a fourth-place position through the body of the race, only to see Germany and the hometown favorites, Italy, storm through in the final 500m. As with the Australian crew, U.S. universities were well represented, with Oliver Wynne-Griffith and Thomas Pagel (Yale), James Johnston (Harvard), Morgan Hellen (Cal), Tom George (Princeton), and Cameron Buchan (Northeastern). NB: Ed Grisedale put a few GoPro cameras to the test to make this one—much appreciated, Ed!

We're hoping to cover the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, but we need your help to do it. RowingRelated is an ad-free site. The most expensive part of race coverage is the cost of travel, so we're offering these campaign-dedicated, limited-edition RR shirts as a reward for helping us get there. Thanks for reading!
